雲上の聖母子を中心として、上空には4人の天使がおり、地上には4人の聖人たちがいる。天使たちのうちふたりは聖母に戴冠し、ふたりは左右から礼拝している。聖人たちのうち左端の男性は判別できないが、それ以外は左から福音書記者聖ヨハネ、聖アントニウス、聖アウグスティヌスだと思われる。「ブラッチョリーニ礼拝堂の画家」とは、フィレンツェ近郊の町ピストイアの、サン・フランチェスコ聖堂内にあるブラッチョリーニ礼拝堂にある壁画が基準作となっている、逸名の画家である。本作品と特に関連づけられているのはデンヴァー美術館にある作品であり、特徴のあるキリストの体つきや聖母の容貌、雲の上に座す聖母子の構図などがよく似ている。額の銘板にはかつて帰属されていたパッリ・スピネッリの名が記されている。（出典: 国立西洋美術館開館60周年記念 松方コレクション展. 東京, 国立西洋美術館, 2019. cat. no. 9）
