中央に妻マルト、その左右に幼い次女ベルナデットと三女アンヌ＝マリーを描いたこの小さなスケッチは、パリ郊外の閑静な町サン＝ジェルマン＝デ＝プレに居を構えたこの画家の穏やかな家族の日常であろう。かつて同じグループに属したボナールやヴュイヤールのアンティミテ（親密派）と呼ばれる室内画に近い味わいを出している。（出典: デジタルギャラリー. 1999-2006）

In this small sketch, the artist's wife, Marthe, appears in the center, flanked by little Bernadette, the couple's second daughter, and Anne-Marie, their third. This domestic scene depicts the peaceful family life of the artist, who made his home in St. Germain-en-Laye, a quiet community on the outskirts of Paris. It is similar in feel to paintings of domestic interior scenes by Intimists, like Bonnard and Vuillard, who were active in the same group as Denis. (Source: The Digital Gallery. 1999-2006)
