スペイン南部のマラガに生まれ、バルセロナ、パリ、南フランスなどで制作した今世紀最大の芸術家であるピカソは、その生涯にわたって破壊と創造を繰り返した。第二次世界大戦後に行った彼の試みの一つは、キュビスムを造形主義の方向に解体したことである。本作品はキュビスムとは別の観点で描かれた裸婦の重要な作例といえる。（出典: デジタルギャラリー. 1999-2006）

Born in the southern Spanish town of Málaga and active in Paris and the south of France, Picasso was this century's greatest artist. Throughout his life Picasso followed a cycle of creation and then destruction and one of his Post World War II experiments was an attempt to dissolve or dismantle the structuralism of Cubism. This work is important for its representation of a nude woman from a non-Cubist perspective. (Source: The Digital Gallery. 1999-2006)
