本作品はピカソが晩年の20年余の間没頭した「画家とモデル」の膨大な作品群の一つである。登場する画家たちのなかには絵筆を持ったまま裸でモデルと愛し合う姿で描かれている者もいる。本作品には画家の姿は描かれていないが、既存の様式をすべて超越したなぐり描きにも似た画面には、ピカソの執念をみる思いがする。（出典: デジタルギャラリー. 1999-2006）

This work is from a large group of works depicting the artist and model, a theme that fascinated Picasso for the last twenty years of his life. Among the images of the painter depicted in these works, one is shown still holding his brush as he makes love to a model in the nude. Here the artist does not include an image of himself and the whole surface is covered with a wealth of scribbled strokes which ably convey Picasso's tenacity.
