来歴

The original scroll was likely taken apart in the early 20th century; the membranes are known to have first been sold separately in 1928 (Berlin, Paul Graupe, membrances 2 and 5) and 1929 (Arnold Mettler, St. Gallen, sold at Amsterdam, Mensing & Fils, membrane 4); USA, Mitchell family collection, purchased c. 1928; New York, Ellin Mitchell, cat. Twenty-Four Illuminated Miniatures from 1200 A. D. c. 1982, no. 4, obtained by inheritance from her own family collection; Toronto, Dr. Elie Borowski Collection, published 1986 Canada Collects the Middle Ages exhibition catalogue. Purchased from Ellin Mitchell in 1982. Inherited by his wife Betya Borowski upon his death in 2003 in Jerusalem; Jerusalem, Batya Borowski Private Collection (2003-2019); purchased by Dr. Jörn Günther Rare Books AG 11 Feb. 2019 from Batya Borowski in Israel. Israeli export license; purchased by the Western Art Foundation in 2019 from Dr. Jörn Günther Rare Books AG in Basel; donated to NMWA, 8 October 2019.
