Parent Volume: The volume was dismembered by Leo S. Olschki (1861–1940) ca. 1903 in Florence (parent volume of 134 folio sold to William Scheide, now Scheide Library Princeton University MS 16). Present Leaf: Dr. Elie Borowski collection, Toronto; private collection, Israel, until Feb. 2019; acquired from the above by Günther in Feb. 2019; purchased from the above by the Western Art Foundation, Tokyo, 2019; donated from the above to NMWA, 2019.

Provenance

The original ferial Psalter likely was made, c. 1320, in France, possibly in Reims; The parent manuscript was dismembered, apparently, by c. 1903 (see below) when, in Florence, Leo S. Olschki (1861-1940) sold the parent volume of 134 folia to William Scheide; USA, Mitchell family collection, purchased from Olschki, c. 1930; New York, Ellin Mitchell, obtained by inheritance from her own family collection; Toronto, Dr. Elie Borowski Collection. Purchased from Ellin Mitchell in 1980s. Inherited by his wife Batya Borowski upon his death in 2003 in Jerusalem; purchased by Dr. Jörn Günther Rare Books AG 11 Feb. 2019 from Batya Borowski in Israel. Israeli export license; purchased by the Western Art Foundation in 2019 from Dr. Jörn Günther Rare Books AG in Basel; donated to NMWA, 8 October 2019.
