フランスの版画家アブラアム・ボスが1645年に上梓した初めての本格的なエッチングの技法書。さまざまな言語に訳され、以降長らく版画家たちの重要な手引きとなった。ボスは1629年、パリに逗留していたカロと出会い、彼から多くのことを学んだとされる。この著作からは、カロが用いていたエッチング技法がどのようなものだったかを知ることができる。（出典: ジャック・カロ: リアリズムと奇想の劇場, 2014, [展覧会作品解説パネル]）
