『ヘラクレスの十二功業』：ネメアのライオンを殺すヘラクレス <The Labours of Heracules>: Hercules Killing the Nemean Lion

以下5点は、『ヘラクレスの十二功業』連作に属す。もっとも、この連作には一般に十二功業に数えられない逸話も含まれる。《ケンタウロスと戦うヘラクレス》(G.2003-0092)もその一例であるが、描かれているのは、婚約者を奪おうとした半人半獣のケンタウロスたちとの戦いであろうか。一方メネアの谷のライオンを素手で絞め殺した逸話（《ネメアのライオンを殺すヘラクレス》G.2003-0093）と、ヒュドラ退治の逸話（《ヒュドラを退治するヘラクレス》G.2003-0094）は、通常知られる十二功業の一部である。ヒュドラ退治の場面では、甥のイオラオスが加勢し、切り落とした怪物の首の付け根を炎で焼き尽くそうとしている。またこの場面には、ヘラクレスに恨みを持つ女神ヘラが格闘の邪魔をすべく送り込んだ海老のような生き物も描かれている。残り二場面もやはり十二功業に数えられない。ヘラクレスの牛を盗んだ火を吐く怪物カクスとの戦い（《ヘラクレストカクス》G.2004-0029）、そして十二功業の達成後になされたトロイア人たちへの復讐が表されている（《トロイア人と戦うヘラクレス》G.2003-0095）。(出典: クラインマイスター：16世紀前半ドイツにおける小画面の版画家たち, 2012.
