フランスより寄贈返還された松方コレクションには、フジタの素描が2点ある（もう1点は《自画像》）。1920年代には、フジタの評判はパリにおいてすでに非常に高かったことからすると、同コレクション中に彼の油彩の秀作が含まれていないのが不思議なほどだが、もっともこれには彼が日本人画家であるという認識が手伝っていたのであろう。フジタの芸術がそれほど早く評価を得たのは、卓抜な素描力を背景にそれをソフィスティケイトした線の魅力を導き出し、また彼が意図したように日本的伝統がそこに生かされているからであろう。この《裸婦》にも、そのようなフジ夕の特徴はよく現われている。パスキンなど、他のエコール・ド・パリの画家たちに少なからず影響を与えたことは、この作品からもうなずける。（出典: 国立西洋美術館名作選. 東京, 国立西洋美術館, 1989. cat. no. 105）
