象徴主義の運動におけるアマン＝ジャンの女性像は、すべて類型化されたものとして描かれ、世紀末の「妖婦」の一典型となった。しかし、柔らかな色彩と筆致で描かれたこの少女像にはその面影は見られず、晩年のアマン＝ジャンが自らの周りに見いだした、美しきものへの温かな眼差しが感じられる。（出典: デジタルギャラリー. 1999-2006）

All of Aman-Jean's images of women painted during his symbolist period were homogeneous in form and represented the "femme fatale" type of fin de siècle. This image of a young girl painted in gentle colors and brushstrokes, however, does not reflect this type. Instead it reveals the subject matter that Aman-Jean saw in his immediate surroundings during his later years, and exhibits his warm sensitivity to beautiful things.
