《イヴと未来》第2版 1882年（初版1880年） 旧約聖書に書かれたイヴの物語から3つの場面、「イヴの誕生」、「蛇に誘惑されるイヴ」、「楽園から追放されるアダムとイヴ」を取り上げて、それぞれに、未来のあり方を象徴的に表した3つの場面を組み合わせて構成されている。まず人類の「原罪」を表す場面があり、そのあとに未来が示されている。 第4葉 第二の未来 奇妙な魚に乗ったひとりの男性が、静かな水面のうえを渡る。その男性も耳が大きく、爪がとがっており、鋭い銛を手に握っている。クリンガーによれば、これは「他の世界から泳ぎ寄ってくるデーモン」を表している。（出典: マックス・クリンガー版画展：《イヴと未来》《ある生涯》《ある愛》, 2005.
