クリストーファノ・ロベッタは、15世紀末から16世紀初めにかけてフィレンツェで活躍した金工師でかつ銅版画家である。ヴァーザーリの『芸術家列伝』には金工師として触れられているだけであるが、数多くのすぐれた銅版画を残しており、《マギの礼拝》はその中でも傑作のひとつに数えられる。この作品の主な構図は現在ウフィーツィ美術館にあるフィリッピーノ・リッピの絵画（1496年）から直接のヒントを得たものであるが、付随的な人物や風景には、ギルランダイオ、ペルジーノ、ションガウアー、デューラーといったイタリアや北方の巨匠たちの影響がうかがえる。(出典: 昭和53年度新収作品 [配布資料].
